Brief summary of Brickell’s history

100 years ago, Brickell used to be a neighborhood full of luxurious mansions, home to very wealthy families, which gave it the name Millionaire’s Row.

Brickell owes its name to Will and Mary, who were one of the first families known in the area. They established their home and a commercial business in the neighborhood in 1871. They bought large pieces of land and situated their business in what is known today as Calle Quinta and Brickell Avenue. Certainly, they did not imagine the bright future that this area would have.

Brickell, a promising neighborhood

In 1970 began the construction of monumental buildings that are nowadays international business centers. Today, it makes Miami one of the top 10 US financial hubs where the most important banks of the country and of Latin America are located. The modern streets and gigantic constructions became the headquarters of numerous international financial entities, allowing Brickell to be known as the city’s central business district and one of the US’ largest financial sectors.

Being the Manhattan of Miami is a name that was earned with a lot of character, since it has quickly become a neighborhood where brands increasingly seek more interaction with millennials, the young population that needs an innovating gastronomic experience, an active nightlife and a colorful culture.
