Today we commemorate the achievements of women who inspire us and have managed to leave their mark in the world of marketing, advertising, and business. It’s thanks to their disruptive approach and creativity that they have managed to overcome stereotypes and show the whole world that a woman can achieve whatever she sets out to do.

These are 5 women that we want to highlight and celebrate for their incredible work and for showing that a woman can go very far:

LEILA COBO, Chief Content Officer for Billboard Latino.

This Colombian woman from Cali is a journalist, writer, novelist, pianist, and television presenter. With a persistent and passionate spirit, she has become an expert in the world of Latin music and has been fundamental in the transformation of its coverage and perception for the industry in general. And this pianist -who has played with the Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, in Antioquia and Valle- has also been published by the Los Angeles Times and has dedicated herself to researching and promoting Latin music hits and to supporting art.

REBECA LEON is a musical agent for artists such as Rosalía, J Balvin, and Ozuna through her own production company, Lionfish Studios.

With 24 years in the music industry and the Women in Music Industry award in 2020 -in the Latin Power Players awards- this American has managed to guide the careers of some of the greatest Latino stars. She started with Sony Latin Music and 20 years later managed to get Rosalía the first nomination of a Spanish artist for Best New Artist at the Grammys. In addition to her work in the world of music -with her production company- Leon has also produced cinema (such as the remake of the film Father of the Bride) and television (specifically for HBO, with a series that seems to be inspired by her own career).

MARIE FORLEO, founder of the website Marie Forleo International.

This American entrepreneur was named by Oprah as a thought leader for the next generation. Thanks to her passion and dedication, she has managed to inspire millions of women to fulfill their dreams and take control of their career and personal life. She was a New York Times #1 Best-Selling Author with her books Everything is Figureoutable and Make Every Man Want You. In addition, she was the creator of the educational programs B-School, Time Genius, and The Copy Cure, all virtual courses where she prepares business owners on marketing strategy topics.

BOZOMA SAINT JOHN, marketing executive, author, and entrepreneur.

This woman has served as global brand, marketing, and consumer director for brands such as Netflix, Uber, Apple, and Pepsi -among others. Born in Ghana, Saint John has been concerned about openly speaking about her experience as an African woman in the business world and has worked towards inclusion and diversity in the marketing and advertising industry. She is recognized for her creativity and ability to connect with the audience through genuine and emotional campaigns.

CARLA HENDRA, Global Executive Director of Ogilvy Consulting.

This woman has more than 25 years of experience in B2B and B2C marketing, consulting, strategy and branding -among others. She was one of the founders of Ogilvy which -to this day- has a presence in Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania. Due to her dedication and extensive knowledge of the market, she has become a worldwide reference for advertising and has been characterized by her efforts to empower women in their work and turn them into references and leaders.

Women’s Day is simply an excuse to highlight the achievements and hard work of thousands of women around the world who have helped to change the way women are perceived and represented in the media and advertising, and who have also provided new voices and perspectives in the world of marketing, advertising and business.
